Quick answer: You do. The TikTok Shop is registered to your business, so the account, its revenue, its listings, its performance data and the creator relationships built inside its Affiliate Center belong to the brand, not to MADA. An agency operates a shop through granted access in TikTok's Partner Center, and that access can be revoked by the seller at any time.
What you own
Everything that matters, and it is not a concession — it is how TikTok Shop is built.
- The Seller Center account. Registered to your business, with your documentation and your bank details. It is yours in the same sense your Shopify store is yours.
- The revenue. Payouts settle to your account. They never pass through us.
- The listings and the product catalog, including the copy and the creative assets you supplied.
- The performance data. Every figure we report is exportable from Seller Center by you, because that is where it came from.
- The creator relationships. Affiliates are attached to your shop's Affiliate Center, not to an agency roster. The creators who sell for you are selling for you.
How agency access actually works on TikTok Shop
This is worth understanding, because it is the mechanism the whole question turns on.
A TikTok Shop Official Partner does not own or hold your account. The seller grants an agency access through TikTok's Partner Center, and the seller can revoke it. You can see who has access to your own shop from inside Seller Center, under Agencies & Partners, and remove it there.
Which means the honest answer to "what if the agency will not let go" is that on this platform they cannot hold on. The risk on TikTok Shop is not a hostage account. It is subtler: an agency that never wrote anything down, so that when the relationship ends nobody can say what was agreed about data, creators or notice.
What happens when an engagement ends
Access is removed and the account carries on as yours. Practically:
- You revoke MADA's partner access in Seller Center, or ask us to step back and we confirm when it is done.
- Your reporting history stays available to you — it lives in Seller Center, not in a dashboard we control.
- The affiliate program keeps running. Open and Target Collaborations belong to the shop, so creators already selling for you continue to.
- We will hand over the working context that is not visible in Seller Center: which creators performed and why, what was tested, what did not work.
That last item is the one that is easy to promise and easy to skip. Ask for it explicitly, from us or from anyone else.
Where it is genuinely more complicated: creator content
One area is not as simple as the rest, and pretending otherwise would be the kind of thing this page exists to argue against.
Creator content usage rights depend on the authorization each individual creator granted. Permission to use a video in TikTok Shop Ads does not automatically extend to Meta Ads, Amazon, your own website or anywhere else. Those are the creator's rights to give, not the agency's and not the brand's, and broader usage normally has to be negotiated and often paid for separately.
So: the creator relationship is yours. A specific creator's video is licensed on the terms that creator agreed to. Any agency telling you that you own all the content outright is describing something that is not theirs to give.
Ask any agency to put this in writing
Including us.
Everything on this page is how TikTok Shop works and how we operate, and we will put it in your engagement agreement if you ask — account ownership, data, the creator programme, and what happens to access at offboarding. If any agency you are talking to will not commit the same points in writing, that answer tells you what you needed to know.
It is a cheap question to ask and an expensive one to skip. Two of the better-known guides to hiring a TikTok Shop agency tell buyers to ask it, which suggests it goes unanswered often enough to be worth warning people about.
Frequently asked questions
The brand. A TikTok Shop is registered to the selling business with its documentation and bank details. An agency operates it through access granted in TikTok's Partner Center, which the seller can revoke at any time from Seller Center.
Yes. Affiliates are attached to your shop's Affiliate Center rather than to an agency roster, so Open and Target Collaborations continue to run and creators already selling for you keep selling for you.
Yes, and you do not need anyone's permission. Every figure in our reporting comes from TikTok Shop Seller Center, which you can export from directly.
Not on TikTok Shop. Partner access is granted by the seller and revoked by the seller, and you can see and remove it in Seller Center under Agencies & Partners. The real risk is not a locked account but an undocumented relationship, which is why the terms are worth having in writing before you start.
Not automatically. Usage rights depend on the authorization each creator granted, and permission to run a video as a TikTok Shop Ad does not extend to other platforms. Broader rights are negotiated with the creator, usually for a fee.
